I am really worried about a massive battery leak....?

My little girls toy keyboard hadnt worked for a while so I got some new batteries today. On opening the battery compartment, the Zinc Choride batteries inside were cOVERED in an orange substance which dripped onto the carpet alo. I have got the batteries out and cleaned the battery compartment up with dettol and water and I scrubbed the carpet with soap and warm water and some dettol. The keyboard is still working with its new batteries but I am worried I have not cleaned it and the carpet up properly to make sure I have got rid of any toxic substance?
